A contract, not a memory
An altar is not a museum shelf. It is a desk where business is conducted between the living and the dead.
Three obligations
1. Name them. A lineage that is not spoken aloud goes quiet. 2. Feed them. Water, light, and honest attention. 3. Correct them. Not all inheritance is a gift; some of it is a debt you must refuse to pass on.
The last obligation is the one most people skip, and it is the one that frees a family line.
